We’ve lived another week! Huzzah!

Today’s topic: 🦋🛬🌸👁️🌳🔥🌬️

Random thought: it’s okay if you’re small because then you might be David, watch out if you’re big because then you might be Goliath

Meat and potatoes: Real talk, it’s hard to let things go. When was the last time you were able to let the thing you really wanted go?

We fear letting go because it feels like the second you let go of something, it will slip through your fingies. For example, stop worrying about getting good grades and you forget to do your homework, stop dieting for a day and you gain 20 pounds, etc.

In reality, when have you ever gotten what you wanted by engaging in a staring contest with it––never taking your eye off it, staring through the pain, and eventually it blinks and you get it? 401Ks don’t blink, so this can’t be an effective method.

I know for me, whenever I get what I want it’s because I decide on it and then figure out what daily steps it would take to get me there. And then I forget about the thing and just focus on the daily steps. Or even better, focus on being the person who does the daily steps naturally without too much strain.

If I slip up, which happens, it doesn’t really matter because the trajectory or the trend is still in the direction I want. And direction matters more than perfection.

If you can let go of the outcome and focus on the process that feels right to get you there, then when you get there, it feels natural. Like of course. It’s just the next logical step. You’ve stopped watching the pot to allow the water to boil.

For example, happiness. I literally do not care about being happy. It’s not my goal to be happy,  but I know that joy is a natural consequence of living my purpose. I expect to feel joy based on my actions, so I let it land rather than hunting it

Same with meeting people: I don’t want more friends, so I approach people being a friend rather than seeking a friend and that’s why it’s effortless to make new friends

Whatever you want, it’s like a butterfly. You can reach out and grab it, thinking then you can keep it, but now you have a smushed butterfly in your hand. Or you can hold out some flowers and allow it to land, which will lead Mr. Butterfly to spend much more time with you alive than if you crushed it in your hand.

Bonus thought: In the Old Testament––remember when Moses told Pharoah to let my people go? (well maybe you don’t remember because you weren’t there, but) By the principle of attraction through letting go, he was essentially telling Pharoah how to get the Hebrews to stay! And then the Hebrews wanted to go back to Egypt because wandering through the desert was so tough. Only through his own persistence and miracles from God could Moses get his people to keep going in the desert. If God hadn’t interceded, the Hebrews almost certainly would have returned to Pharoah who had let them go!

Question of the week: What flowers do you need to hold out to get your butterfly to land?

Update: In the pottery studio, I am making a bunch of somewhat identical stuff, but I decided to never take pictures of all the pieces together (like 5 of the same thing next to each other, 10 of the same thing) because even though the pieces are the same dimensions, they’re all unique. No more pottery group pics! Individual pictures are still good though 👍and will be on my instagram @lilpotteryy, also my next step is to figure out an amazing packaging/unboxing experience!

Lastly, baby steps are good––if you can’t fully take your eyes off the pot of water boiling, at least don’t forget to blink! Stop staring! Blink!!! It might boil during that blink 😉

Sending all my love over the airwaves!
